After de-goating, marbling, tuning carbs, ditching some of the chrome, etc. (warranty ran out) this summer, I got bored with the stock paint scheme on my 05 Vulcan.
I've got a couple of spare bikes laying around, so I figured having things down a week or so while I do the paint would be no big deal.
After the kids go to bed, the wife and I head out to the garage for a couple of beers (college dorm fridge keeps them cold and accessible) like most nights and yank off the fenders, side covers, and tank. At this point, I get it in my head to pass off painting responsibilities to my wife.
I must say, considering the less-than-professional setup I've got going right now, she did a good job. Plan now is to sand it smooth (not much to it excepting a couple of sags at the odd angles) and put a tire tread pattern across the tank and front fender.
I'll snap a pic or two tonite before we get to the sanding and then keep everyone posted as to progress.
I'd be happy to share tips and tricks if anyone has questions.
