Dunno. What do they inspect? Here a state inspection is only for safety, so brakes, lights, turnsignals, etc are all that is "inspected".

Now if it includes an emmision test, you might have a problem. They don't do emission tests here on motorcycles. Do they where you live?

I don't know I will call tomorrow. Maine is pushing hard on inspections for bikes. Only a 1/3 of bikes get inspected so they say.

Hey, add your location to your profile when you get a sec. Makes answering these questions 10 times easier, especially if someone is close by you and have dealt with this before...

Years back I had Maine Registration (now Florida), it was all Safety aspect, to include Horn ! Even checked my rear brake for wear & proper adjustment. NO emissions . I have been following Maine government news.... laws for stricter mc requirements keep getting challenged an/or push back for various reasons. What I do not know is if they have they passed the law for Lic. plates to be mounted horiz. on _rear_ of bike yet ? Are they still attempting to require the 2x3" Inspection sticker on the rear of the bike (to the side of the Lic. Plate) ?
It is humored that there is an attempt to require a front Lic. plate also !
LOL LOL

Any update news would be appreciated.

Hope this helps

From everything I've heard (around here at least) is inspections on cycles are an attempt to curb the Hardley riders with open drag pipes. But then they slip on some mufflers for the inspection and remove them after they pass.

In AZ they have submitted a request to the EPA to do away with emission testing on motorcycles since it is not a big benefit for the environment. We were hoping it would be approved by July 2011 but now hope by beginning 2012. It's $20 a yr. Haven't ear shaved the vulcan but plan on doing it soon but really don't think it'll be a huge issue with emission testing.
