my turn, layed her down today!!!!

4 lane highway (rt 32) 60 in a construction zone so it was one lane with barrels. dog crosses in front of me, thought he was outta the way then the bastard turned back, hit him full center, bike went to the right I went to the left and slid 65 yards on wet fresh blacktop. I was in full gear, leather jacket gloves, fullface helmet, and and very big thanks to (BUDDY / FIRETIRE) for the chaps you gave me at the gathering they worked awesome! I was in tennis shoes, high top leather but the left laces were sheared off at the end of the slide and lost my shoe. as I almost came to a stop I stood up while still in motion to get off the highway, the big rig that was a good ways behind me stopped traffic, I walked over put on my shoe and walked over to my bike on the side of the road, someone else pulled over and helped me stand it up. ambulance and cops came, I signed a refusal of treatment and was not sighted for anything so no report written. I have a little cut on my left pinky where the glove wore through a little and a small strawberry on my left forearm and a little sore but not bad til morning probably. after talking to police and looking the bike over a little, I fired her up and geared up, the ambulance told me I could follow them a couple miles down the road so if I didnt think the bike was rideable the 30 miles left to get home I could park it at their station overnight and pick it up later. I told the thanks and if it felt ok when they turn off I'll keep on going straight and thats what I did.
As for the bike, I boogered up the left ear, bent the speedometer, scratched up the rear turn signal (thanks again firetire for the one you gave me at the gathering that I havent put on yet) bent the front fender a little, scratched my headlight ring, and bent the front fors a little but I think they can be adjusted back. also broke my clutch lever but enough is left I could still use it. I think if I straighten out the forks it may be rideable again now though but need to get it all back together soon.
As for the dog, glad you didnt make you little prick!

I'm glad you were able to walk (ride) away from that one. Sounds bad, sorry about all the damage to the bike. Good thing you had on a lot of gear or you'd be missing a lot of hide.

as I was sliding 65 yards down the highway on my body I do remember looking over at one point and seeing my bike sliding and thinking, I hope it's okay!!! wow I really love that bike! didnt scratch my helmet one bit but do believe I'll still wear it at all times, and the leather, is definately not just for looking cool! wife knows I'm still going to ride so I'll be shopping for better leathers soon!!!!!!

Wow! Good to hear you just got slightly hurt. Things could have been a lot worse.

Global warming? So what if my kids never see a polar bear. I never saw a dinosaur and I'm ok.

Great to hear you walked away then rode off on top of that. Mine was a couple of months ago and I definitely had someone watching out for me. Keep riding.

Glad you're ok, Scarey stuff man. Had to smile about the "I hope it's okay" remark as you're careening down the road on your leather. I understand the thought though! You'll get it it back ride-able in no time I bet. Peace.
