Took off the windshield

Put on a new speedometer cable, and had to pop off the windshield to access the speedometer. Decided what the heck, it's hot and maybe the extra air will feel good.

Well, riding in this morning, it did. I also felt all the bugs I'd been missing. And all the sand and road grime from all the other cars and trucks.

The big test will be the ride home, when it's in the mid 90's.

So, does anyone else take the windshield off in the summertime?

Global warming? So what if my kids never see a polar bear. I never saw a dinosaur and I'm ok.

Windshield....?????? Oh no I never take mine off, it would be one heck of a job...
Probably because I have never put one on... I rode a friends bike once with a windshield and decided right then I would never have one, after all its a motorcycle, my car & PU both have windshields, but never on my cycle... I love the wind in my face and on my body, and wear a full face helmet, have had very few problems with sand & road grime on black top roads...

No way could I ride in during the winter when it's 34 and not have a windshield on.

I know I am for the most part a loner on not having a windshield, but I stand on it for my part... It just don't seem like I am ridin a bike with one on...
One more thing, I am not a cold weather rider, I only ride for pleasure and it isn't pleasant when you are freezin your butt off, or at least to me it's not...
Thats just me and I'm too old to change......

Admitidly, the cold is unpleasant, but it's still a ride.

But it's probably more due to the fact I'm cheap. 1 gallon of gas for a round trip to work on the bike, and they let me park in the garage here for free. The truck takes 3 gallons and have to park a couple of blocks away for 2 more bucks a day.

So it's under 20 bucks a week for the bike vs just over 60 for the truck. Every ten days I ride to work, the bike makes its own payment.
