Advice? Help?

here is the situation, I bought a 86 gpz1000 a few months ago that has been nothing but problems and due to some joint problems my crotch rocket days are over. I have a chance to trade it straight up for a 86 vn750 that has fresh engine work and a mac exhaust but its not finished, the wiring needs to be hooked up so it cant be heard running, should I take the risk and trade? I would post the add but I cant yet post URL's so heres the copy and paste version


Description:
1986 Kawasaki 750 vulcan, needs to be completed ( wiring needs to be hooked up and tank needs to be painted), engine has had top-end work, mac exhaust, comes with original exhaust in excellent condition. 1000obo, will trade for 1978 or older Kawasaki kz 650, 750 or 1000. As long it is running the rest really does not matter.

I would like to do the mean streak seat, hard tail and lower the rear, drag bars, and a few other changes, what are your thoughts and opinions?

Hi:
That's a tough question from where I sit. I don't know much about the Suzukis. Without further info, like how much milage and previous owners level of care of the vulcan, I think I would look around a while. There are a lot of bikes to be had out there now, and some smokin deals to be had too.
The 750 might leave you wanting a bigger bike down the line too. I know it's not much help, but take your time deciding. If it were me, I think I would pass on the trade.

VN750 is a great ride, but I agree with Bronson, without hearing it running or any past maintenance info, pass on this one and keep looking.

plenty of vn750's can be had for around that price that run good, especially an 86.
heres a pic of my 86 I gave a grand for, cleaned it up a little bit and had to do some work to it including an engine pull/ stator swap the second year I had it but it had 30,000 on it by then, ran great when I bought it and running great now. I would shop around!

I went and looked at the bike, overall it was in pretty good shape, as I looked around the bike I noticed that all the electrical connections are not connected. I asked myself the question "what would I do when putting a bike together?" the answer is I would connect all the wiring as I went, I think i'll keep my ninja. thank you everyone for your advice.

I would think that if it was as easy as plugging all the connections in, the guy would have already done it. Must be something deeper. I think you're smart to walk away - unless you can get it extremely cheap, and want a project.

Keep in mind, usually joint problems and working on a bike don't mix very well.

I used to have all kinda joint problems ,but I quit fooling with that stuff years ago and now it's just plain ol aches and pains.

Come to think of it, a lot of these aches and pains came from stupid stuff I did when I had "joint problems"
