Buying Stuff on Ebay

Here's a rear rack that sold on Ebay for $150.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...NA%3AUS%3A1123

But, when you look at the bid history, there are two 'zero feedback' bidders accounting for the majority of the bids. When you click on their screen names, it shows their statistics. Turns out, the only things that those folks have bid on, are various items from ONLY this seller. They haven't bid on anything from anybody else.

I find it hard to believe that these TWO BRAND NEW BIDDERS just signed up, and have only bid on multiple items from the same guy.

Just how hard is it to get multiple Ebay identities, and bid your items up in price? Isn't that against the rules?

actually fairly difficult to sign up for multiple accounts. When you register for an ebay account, there are certain information criteria that MUST be entered. For example, mailing address, shipping address, PayPal account (sometimes), email address, and eBay does a fair job of monitoring. What does happen sometimes is that a seller can get a good buddy to bid it up with the "deal" that they bidder won't have to pay if the buddy is the only one that bids. Highly frowned upon. You can contact the seller and ask for more pictures and some info and get some feel for the seller's credibility. Also report it to eBa and they will monitor very closely. Hope that helps

I think someone reported one selling for $300+ on Ebay a few months ago.
Ma Kawi does not have them listed for sale any longer, so the prices are going to rise.

There was a cherry one on Ebay that sold for $280 to the bewilderment of the seller. (a member here) Shortly after that, the buyer tried to sell it on Ebay for $290 and got no bids. (buyer's remorse, I guess)

All an auction takes, it two hard headed people determined to 'win' regardless of price, or what something is really worth.

In searching for a used one, I found a brand new one for $150 a couple weeks ago.

The seller in the above auction seems to have multiple identities, as it's odd that there is more than one brand new member bidding ONLY on his stuff, and bidding on multiple items numerous times. If somebody knows how to report it...

zero bidders...
