winding down

Well, it's getting to be that time of the year. Time for a final wash and wax, an oil change, and final prep for winter storage. So after thats done, I just wanted to know: "What are some winter activities that you enjoy doing while your bike is in storage?"

Yeah yeah, I know I am going to get some posts saying "Well, I ride year long so I don't have to put mine away." Well I say lucky you.

So what do you like to do?

What EQPlayer said, and dream of Spring, but bundle up or whatever and ride a bit during the better days of winter so the battery stays up and I don't need to winterize...
I think since I am retired it is a bit more depressing than for the folks that are working...

I don't really plan any trips, I just get on the bike and go where the road leads me. I really wish I had a solid winter activity. Unfortunately, I work all week (55 +hrs.) and only have some time on the weekend to do anything.

Right now, if I had to say my biggest hobby would be playing video games (and I know it's not really a great hobby). Or maybe building and modding computers.

Used to be I couldn't wait for ski season to start. I got excited just at the thought of snowflakes. I still love skiing, but it's a lot more expensive than it ever used to be.

I want to get out on some winter snowshoe hikes this winter with my wife. Would be great to get some winter nature photos.

Sadly, I put her V Star 950 to bed for the winter today. She won't ride when it gets below 50 degrees. I'm still riding my bike for awhile yet.

Yeah, we put ours away about mid way through november just because we start to get busy gearing up for the holidays. If I could ride in snow I would, but people drive crazy enough on a dry road around here, let alone with snow or salt on the road.

Whopeee 72* today and 150 mi ride and lookin good for tomorrow also, just hope the the ride today don't put a whoopin on me... Rode a river road (Mullins Cove near Chattanooga) that beat up my wrists and shoulders a bit, I guess its old arther...
Anyway about 1/2 way I was wishin I had about 20# of air in my tires instead of the 40# in the rear and 36# in the front...lol...
There will be several days that are warm enough, especially down this way, that will let you dress a bit and get in some good ridin, and some can ride all winter on down farther South...
I'm just chicken below about 60* or so though...

I do ride year round but had to put her away last year when I passed a dump truck throwin' salt. That's a little too hard core.

I love to fly in winter. The heli's performance is way better than in summer because altitude density is minimal. That thing does great when the weather gets a little colder. You can't fly with the doors off but that's kinda nice too. It's quieter, the sky's less crowded, you pop the heat on, check your charts and just buzz around. The autumn scenery is beautiful as well. I know we're not there yet but seeing the tops of the ridges covered in snow is pretty cool too...
