Test rode a BMW tonight

Well as some of you know I've been looking for another bike for a while now, and I came across an absolutely pristine BMW K100RS. I mean this thing was not only immaculate but it had all the options and still had all the bags, liners, tool kit, everything. The paint was perfect. A pearl white with blue and red pin stripes on the faring. I wanted this bike sooooo much. But when I test rode it within 5 minutes, I knew it wasn't for me. It was soooo smooth on the power delivery, the brakes were spot on, and it was easy to throw around the curves. But the riding position was really uncomfortable. After 10 minutes all I could think about was the pain in my back and wrists.

I'm really disappointed.

Yes, it's my mid-life crisis.

Sweet Jane...

See if you can find the K100ST. A world of difference. Expensive maintenance, though.

I've always wanted a KZ1100 LTD. Similar to our VN's but big smooth 1100 cc's of power. Shaft too.

Keep in mind that you body was not used to riding in that position. My FJR did feel a bit odd and I did get some pain in my wrists and shoulders the first few time out, but slowly those unused muscles got used to it.

I did have to adjust the handlebars, and MANY owners of these types of bikes find instant relief with either aftermarket bars or risers.
Don't throw out the baby with the bath water without trying a few cheap fixes if you other wise really liked the bike.

I can now ride for HOURS without much complaint. Switching to a Corbin seat that lowered me a bit helped alot too.

How fast were you going when you tested the bike? most bikes where you lean into the wind (sport/crotch rocket) vs. the sit up and beg VN, need some air lifting your body up to reduce the pressures on wrists and back.
