Will 750cc fit 1985 VN700?

My favorite old ride just blew up and I need to know what options I have. Does anyone know if a later model 750cc will fit? Seems like the bikes are pretty interchangable.

Thanks

Yes, it will fit, and welcome.

I'm keepin' all the left over parts. I'm gonna use 'em to build another bike!

^ The 750's are yeah but the OP is asking about a 750 engine in a 700 frame.

They used the same frame when they went to the 750's didn't they? If so it should work.

Frames must be the same since folks have swapped the 750 for a 700. Believe they just didn't bore out the 700 to a 750. Basically the only difference in the entire bike.

I'm keepin' all the left over parts. I'm gonna use 'em to build another bike!

Didnt they offered a 750 in 85? I doubt they changed the frame. The 750 motors I see look identical to mine.

Because Harley was struggling to stay in business, they convinced Congress to impose a tariff on imported bikes above 700 cc. The tariff expired in 1986, so the VN700 was only made in '85. Just a smaller displacement engine in the same frame.
