Talking Ebay bites the big one

I just wanted to let everyone know that i am now boycotting ebay(like it matters) due to poor customer service and basically the big run a round with "verification of my account". After discussion on chat, phone, and email....still no progress. Waiting for what seems like forever only to find out that my account isn't verified. I am not doing it anymore.
I am no going back to the old fashioned internet and freemarket(not including ebay). If i see something i can order on a different site i will. If not...oh well. Theres always lance and slim to fabricate stuff.

I am glad it has worked out for you all but its not meant to be for myself.

Uh ok, to each their own I guess. It's really not that big a deal though and they do have some good inexpensive stuff. Sure you can't just cool out real quick and hang in there?

Never got into e-bay, do Amazon every now and again, but if something is on e-bay that I want, I have got my son to get it for me, maybe a couple of times and all has went well I reckon...He got this little nice machined aluminum GPS bar mount that I liked and I had him get me one, bit steep but nice...
Have a good one...Old Dog...

I quit Ebay about 6-7 years back. I had problems with Pay pal too. Fukum.

I don't buy anything anymore unless I can-- see it in person, the company selling it has a real good reputation, or there is a mortor and brick establishment to back it up. The last thing I bought online was a GPS from Newegg.(great deal and great company to deal with)..I would never buy anything anymore from a privite sourse off ebay unless I could drive to see and pay for it.

The bottom line is, I just got too much crap the way it is now, I don't need to be adding to it...

I don't buy from ebay very often, but I still have an account. Had no problems getting it and my paypal account verified a few yrs back. I only ever pay through paypal as I have had some bad run in's with some bad sellers and paypal got my money back every time.

All I can say Mark is just try to be patient with them. Maybe they are having some issues.

To everyone else, always be careful about who you buy from and always, always check their rep and feedback, and always use paypal to purchase with so that you can file a claim and get your money back if need be.

Ok. Boycott is over. Ebay broke down and forced me to get a new email account just so i could get back into my old one. Anyway, just ordered the jardine sissy backrest with brackets...good deal. ...Now if i can only find a mint condition final drive assembly as a spare....

Well I have been using E-bay from roughly after they started (originally called Auctionweb). I Have perfect feedback (wow, I know, you all are impressed now!) I have about 400 transactions (4 bad ones in 15 years.. 2 i got my money back, 2 i did not). Here I will impress you more.. Ebay stands for Echo bay (the consulting firm of the guy who started it). Ok ok... I have more but wont bore you with it.

I am a bit confused by the original posters comments. Ebay verify? My account was set up years and years ago. Isnt a Ebay varification just to make sure you have the correct EMAIL address? Ebay doesnt handle the money (well, yes they do as they have bought PAYPAL (didnt used to be) and its owned by them now, but they are still seperate) so other then knowing your correct info what else is there? or does a new account nowdays include Paypal too as its basicly the way to pay on Ebay?

As for PAYPAL, now I know they need to verify with money transfers and such, not a quick process, if you where tyring to get it done fast, not going to happen. it takes a few days, I'm sure you would get the run around if you tried to speed it up (that would be like asking your bank to speed up the loan process, they deal in a huge volume of people, you just have to follow the presudures they have set up).

I myslef am not a fan of PAYPAL, they appear to be covering your butt from a bad deal, but in reality they only cover it if there is some way for them easily to get the money back (hence they prefer varified accounts, they have your info so they can get teh money back). PAYPAL is just an easy way to exchange money online, its no protections.

Ebay is an AUCTION site, and has all the rules of an AUCTION. you see it (pictures or discription) and decide how much you are willing to pay. You got to a farm auction and buy and old non running car and talk to the farmer and he says ti ran great 5 years ago... your taking a chance he is lying or telling the truth, Ebay is no different. the lure is finding somthing cheap or somthing you cant find elsewhere, if that is worth it or not is up to each of us.

With the net and google nowdays there is almost nothing you cant find someplace. You can skip Ebay pretty easy nowdays, but 10 years ago.. your options where alot more limited (and just a fun fact, Ebay deals where 100% better, nowdasy ebay is pretty much cost on stuff, sad really).

I'm not for or against Ebay.. I enjoy the deals and not so deals i get...
