Coming Attractions (mods and customizing)

jimkonst sent me a pm the other day asking me about my plan to put a vn1500 tank on my bike. He said he had never heard or seen this being done and asked me about my plan. Well put simply I do not have one, some people draw plans, blueprints, and some even do cad drawings. I do not everything is in my head i start with an idea and some parts and try to figure it out as I go. I was trying to figure out what to do about a seat because i have never liked the stock one. I looked at corbin and saddlemen, still I was not happy I wanted a solo seat. well after letitflight mentioning his vn900 seat there were a couple of us asking what it took to mount it. Then somewhere I lost my mind I used to work in a metal fab shop I weld and i am a mechanic by trade. I asked myself why does it have to bolt on why can't I use any seat and make brackets to fit the bike. So i found one for a 2000-2001 fat boy on ebay. I have a friend who has a 2001 fat boy that still has the stock seat. I went to his house and took his bike for a ride decided I liked it and clicked Buy it now. It should be here this week at which point I will figure out what i need to do to attach it (not heater hose) no offense to anyone. Either way these are motorcycles as long as they have been built they have been customized. they were customized before there was an after market. Just guys around a shop looking at their bikes going I bet this would look good. And they made it happen. I think in this day and age of bolt on mods is we have lost our way, lost that spark and can do attitude. A lot of us think hat if it doesn't bolt on it can't be done. We want to know who makes it and where can we buy it. Sorry for the wall of text, wait no I'm not it needed to be said. well enough of this here are the coming attractions and already done mods.

Garage
I'm with you Joe .I didn't like the stock seat so I cut mine up and made what I wanted.I know a lot of people like every piece of chrome they can put on a bike and thats alright too ,but I threw a bunch of aluminum and chrome off of mine I painted my engine Black put a different taillight on mine that had been laying around the garage for twenty years, moved the license plate up on the fender on a cbr 600 license plate bracket.I removed the wheels and polished them and then masked them off and painted them like the older black wheels ,and then polished and then painted and cleared the fork sliders, took the front rotors off an painted the centers red and put hem back on,I put on a few bolt on parts and will put hard bags on it when I can afford it(My daughter is getting married in September so My money is kinda spent for me this but she's my Baby)But the re are things on my bike and not on my bike that you have to look to find, that I did or I made or modified to suit me.I know there are those that think my bike looks odd and I don't stress about it I built it for me.If I build some else's bike I 'll do it their way, this one is mine.It doesn't say kawasaki on it any where except on the frame stickers and I love it when people ask me "what kinda bike is that?"I acheived my goal and it is fun, fast and fairly comfy as well,

If you see it on my bike I did it

thats what i am talking about instead of worrying about what fits or what bolts on make it yours. Mine has no emblems anywhere either I like when people ask what it is. I tell them it started as a kawasaki soon it will be mine.
