89/85 hybrid won't start every other day

Hi,
I have an 89 vn750 but am running an 85 700 engine in it. took it out backroading friday. ran like a scalded dog for 15-20 minutes then started bogging down a little. came home and parked it. went out saturday to look it over and it wouldn't start or even hit. checked gas 1/2 tank, oil, water all good. moved on to yard work for the day. sunday morning fired up after maybe 3 turns and leveled out and ran great. any ideas whats up? this evening it wouldn't hit a lick.

I'd check the floats, sounds to me like you might be flooding it out. Could be wrong, wouldnt be the 1st time but thats what I'd check first.

Check the plugs when it won`t start, see if they are wet, and confirm if it is flooding.
