cruising speed surge

whats up people I just got my carbs back on today got all the gunk out.the guy I bought the bike from had someone halfway clean carbs they soaked em without removing plugs and mixture screws,I drilled plugs clean mixture screws,put new orings on checked the rest of carb no trash anywhere else.at cruising speed when I level off about 65 I get a surge now,bike starts good now even though fast idle didnt seem to work right when it was col idles good, and pulls good and accelleration seems fine anybody got any ideas thanks oh tank is clean also

Is the carb vent hose, the one that "t" from the carbs where it is away from air blowing into it. It has to be in the right ear. And it must not be bottomed in all the way.

Cut the end of the vent hose at a 45* angle before pushing it into the right air filter box (ear), to prevent blocking it (ie. bottoming it out) as mentioned by nr above.
