Can't we all just get along?

Ahhhhhh. Yesterday was a great day to take the bike out. Being in Rhode Island we're not going to see too many more days like that so my day started off great. I enjoyed a nice 20 mile ride to work through beautiful windy back roads with the smell of the leaves and minimal traffic. It couln't have been any better... Until I got to work...

I know it's been talked about many times before but it really bothers me when someone that has (or had) a Harley says how the Vulcan ripped off the Harley style . I work with a guy who said he had a sportster and how much it cost. He started off by saying how nice the Vulcan looked and that it was a cool bike and then he went on to say that it looked like they tried ripping off the Harley style and talking about how the Japanese did a good job at it. Anyway. I had to comment back that unlike a Harley the V-twin on the Vulcan was more stable than the Harley as well as the Vulcan has been manufactured for over 20 years with little change to the design. I also aded that the performance was awsome and that I only paid around $1300 for it and now that I've had the vulcan for 2 seasons now I know I made the right choice and if I'm ever in the market for a new bike it will most likely be another Vulcan.

Anywho.... It's supposed to be in the 50's today so I'm most likely going to be out there if possible... More like if it doesn't rain lol.

Thanks for listening

Brush it off, my friend. They're just jealous because they paid so much more and got so much less.

Sounds like someones pissed that someone else is riding and they're not. If he "had" a sportster he's clearly jealous that you're on 2 wheels and he's not and of course has to bust your balls for it. I'd have offered him a ride on it, I bet he'd a jumped at the chance just before I said, "Yeah that's not hapnin."

This isn't exactly a dig or flame on Harley riders. Harleys cost a lot, more than our little rice burners. They're going to take a lot more justification to buy than a cheaper bike - both to the spouse, and to the wallet. It becomes a habit to make grand claims about what a great cycle that hawg is, to justify the ongoing price tag. Or from the other side of the argument, they don't want to admit that a $4000 cycle can be just as much fun and better engineered than a $25,000 one.

He's probably not trying to convince YOU that a Harley's better, but HIMSELF. Heh...

Hey VulcanCruiser,

I have a Sportster and VN750. I love to look at my Sporty, but I love to ride my Vulcan. Just deflect his silly comments with a simple "As long as you're on two wheels you're cool with me." and play nice with him.

Oh and guys, once and for all get it straight, Harleys don't drip oil, they just mark their spot!

Great answer! I've had many different makes of bikes and enjoyed riding them all. As long as we can get together and enjoy a two wheel ride it's all good. Will I admire your bigger shinier bike? Yes. Will I talk down your smaller dull bike? Absolutely not! We make our bikes our own and each of us is out for the ride.

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
