Understanding this site

As a new owner, I've spent hour after hour and I'm still trying to figure out how to navigate this site.
Many (probably old) links don't work, finding pertinent info is difficult....etc.
Ex: Couldn't remember who wrote it, so it took half hour to find Fergy's spline lube procedure....why isn't it in Vulcan Verses? Now, another half hour later I still can't find a post about Heads Up Voltmeter (I think) Dianna posted. Another ex: Sent private message to active user with no response....how do you know if it was read or even delivered??
Who owns or maintains this site? 6000 members....how are actually active?

I'm not complaining...just trying to better understand.

BTW: What determines how many turns for the fuel mixture? Why is 2 1/2 turns recommended?

I agree the search function doesn't work well. I've looked for things I was just reading a day ago and not been able to find them. The site doesn't always work well as a "search and grab" resource.

I use the site by just checking it mult times a day. I use the "new posts" and keep up with things ppl are doing. When something comes up I might have a future interest in I bookmark it or sometimes cut and paste into a text doc if the instructions are all in one place.

I agree it's not the easiest site to get around on, and the gallerys are hard to use, also. When you click on a members name and that sub-menu comes up with things like "send member a PM" it should have a link that says "go to member's gallery". I don't even use the gallery for my pics, I put them on Flickr where they can be found.

All in all a great site, with outstanding members and invaluable information, but it could use some improvements in the organizational side, for sure!

if you are familiar with carbs at all, you would realize that 2 1/4 to 2 and 3/4 turns is the general initial setting for the mixture screws to get enough air and fuel into the engine. From there you fine tune it about an 1/8 of a turn in or out depending on what is needed. 2 1/2 is very close to where the carbs are running at their peak.

I could get into the exact details, but don't want to confuse you more than you are already.

as for the owner of the sight...that is DMAG, owns and maintains the sight, although there are other people like Dianna who help keep the sight somewhat organized. The reason Fergie's Spline Lube Write up isn't in the versus is becasue it is too new...the verses date back to 06. and the original author is no longer an active member.

I don't know what your problem with the search is... I typed

and got quite a bit of info on this mod...as well as the info you were probably looking for //www.vn750.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2242
