Vulcan in the mountains

Thought you all might like to see this photo. Was taken last weekend during a ride into the Sierra Nevada mountains from Sacramento. This is about 20 miles east of Foresthill just west of Robinson Flat.

Was a great ride and the bike ran GREAT!

Get out here to California, there are roads that'll leave you in a puddle of drool. Flat and straight? Yawn, but it's there. High speed sweepers? Zoom. Gnarly goat trails with more twists than possible? All OVER the place. Roads that are 20 solid miles of 20-mph turns? Got it covered. Roads that you cannot even imagine? They are here too.

This is a motorcycle paradise. Come visit!

No, not Mosquito Ridge...it's the extension of Foresthill Road past China Wall OHV staging area. That's the canyon of the North Fork of the American River in the background.

I believe that Mosquito Ridge heads off to the south out of Foresthill towards French Meadows and ends up by Uncle Tom's Cabin on Wentworth Springs Road, if I'm not mistaken. If you've done that route, EQPlayer, I'd love to get some details, as I have not and would like to...

Here's another photo of the canyon from the road.

Very nice. I took MRR 26 miles till it was closed by snow, went back to Ralston Ridge past the Rubicon River dam.

RR connects to French Meadows Road, but I stayed on it till 11 Pines, then Wentworth Springs, Ice House, Highway 50. Make sure you top off your tank in Foresthill, there's nothing past it till 50.

The journey is the destination.

If you like Winding & Twisting Mountain Roads then Northern California is it.
They're even More Twisted than the Map shows.
We have a town here called Weaverville.......You should see the Weaving road to get to it.
