Looking to Clean Up my '89 VN750 (Marietta, GA)

I am located in Marietta, GA, a "suburb" of Atlanta.

I have an '89 VN750 that, while it runs great, looks rather weathered. It has a lot of surface rust in many places, and needs a good cleaning.

However, I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. I am a computer geek, and a woodworker. I am not at all mechanically inclined. If I tried taking this thing apart to clean it, it'd never get back together.

Is there anyone in this general area who is willing and/or capable of taking this thing apart, cleaning off the rust, shining it up, and maybe giving it a new paint job? Without draining my bank account? *grin*

(this is my 2nd attempt at posting this)

How much do you have in your bank account? LOL I am sure I can help you out, right now I am doing an engine rebuild for Vulcan 89 and other maintenance to make sure he is safe to ride. I should have him out in two weeks or less depending on his bank account. LOL

Shoot me a PM with your contact info and we will go from there.

His is an 89' we could just swap when I am done!!!! LOL

Depending on what you are looking for as an end result, from looking better to show room new is a big ball park. Just to dissasemble and re-assemble the complete bike you are looking at at least $800.00 So you need to decide how far you want to go. I spent over $2300.00 in parts and materials to do mine and that does not include labor. With labor my scoot would come in around $5500.00 and that does not include the $2000.00 worth of free custom Machine Shop work done to the engine. You need to decide what you want to achieve.

Wow...

Yeah, $800 to $2300 for a bike I got for free. I'll have to give that some serious thought.

I dunno if the bike is even worth that much as is.

Seems like it'd be almost better to just buy a newer one in better shape, 'eh?

Actually it is a three stage 2001 Lotus Racing Mustard Yellow Pearl, the PPG materials alone cost me over $500.00.

Three Stage = Base Coat, Pearl Coat, Clear Coat.
