Seat to backrest ?

The one thing I am not really fond of about this VN750 Is the cheezy looking back rest and plastic 'compartment'. I am already thinking about a way to modify the seat to somehow eliminate the backrest part of the seat just make it level back there.

It looks like the backrest metal rail can be removed... I'd have to lower the seat attachment screws to where the new back rail would be. The 'blip' of the backrest part of the seat would be cut down and the leather reformed around it.

Has anyone done something like this, or even thought about doing it?

well I know what you are saying, but I took mine a step farther and built a whole new seat using fiberglass to make the pan, a poly foam sleeping mat, and leather... I don't have pics of it all, but check the gallery and you can see pics of all of it minus the final seat.

also click on my sig link to find more documents about modifing the seat...one doc in particular talks about doing exactly as you want to do.

Also BMan2377 has done the exact mod you are looking for....search the forums and gallery for pics of his ride

It's fairly easy to do.Kawabengie did the same mod and did a really good write up and has pics of the process in his gallery.Just depends on if you want to square it off or do the gunfighter/fast back style like we did.
