Mods from this weekend and results!

Had some time to get the bike ready for commuting and weekend rides with my Bro. Here are some of the things I did that worked well for me...
  1. Used 'tire black gel' on black plastic to make it black again. Worked great.
  2. Cut down 8mm plug wire to fit into coil tower. Plug ran cleaner.
  3. Wrapped rear header with header wrap. Looks good, but feels hotter.
  4. Re-jetted to 140 mains, 40 pilot. Should have went to 142 or 144
  5. You can see my cheap-o bag mounts in the pict (T hardware) works great and supports the glass packs.
  6. SHINKO rear tire 150/90 great choice for a budget tire. Dropped RPM by 400 @ 70 MPH.
  7. Turn signal relocate to license plate mount.

Future mods will include igloo saddle bags, paint gold wing front fender to match tank colors, and more, much more LED lighting.

Not bad for a salvage bike.

Pipes sound good. Had them around the shop so I pulled the original tips, drilled the goat 100% (it's more of a balance tube than anything else) and fitted the glass packs. I did this mod to extend the end of the pipes to the rear of the bike for noise comfort on long trips. Cost $0. Sound and comfort? worth every penny of time spent doing the project.

What I want is a 2 into 1 with a stainless glass pack but at today's prices, it's going to be a while.

Take care,

Thanks,

Brand was BLACK MAGIC 'Tire Black Gel'. Used it on the radiator grill and the plastic in front of the tank. Gave the plastic a dark black gloss.

The glass packs are painted with Hamerite black - more like a dark grey - wrinkle finish.

This is going to be sweet with the bags.

I was going to ask you about the black plastic restoration you used, but someone beat me to it.

I did want to ask about the bar ends though - what do you use and do they make a noticeable difference?

Bar Ends helped to take the vibes out of the 10" pull backs on my bike and I like the style. Here's something similar on eBay, I got my ends at a local shop.

how much of a sound difference did it make having the ends of the pipes further back? I have some HD dynas to put on, and they would go back that far or further if I left the goat on. I have noticed the sound difference on bike after drilling out the baffles on the stock pipes, especially with my helmet on.
