vin decoder

Hello everyone. I am new to the site. I just picked up a "project gift" from my uncle. Its a Vulcan (obviously). He tells me its a 750.

This bike has been sitting for a couple of years. He wrecked it, bending the forks and denting the tank and misc issues here and there. He has not had the time to mess with it so he gave it to me. Well I gave him fifty bucks to make it an official sale so he couldn't come back later when its running and take her back. Lol.

Well I would like as many specifics about it as possible so I know I'm gettin the right parts for the right bike.

Is there a way to decode the vin for these details?

Give that a try.

2004 Kawasaki Vulcan 750 "Serenity"
Changed Oil/Filter and Coolant
Installed Big Crank ETX15L Battery w/charger hookups
Duct-taped retention safety for toolbox door
New OEM clutch lever replaced after first tipover
Plan on: changing brake fluid, coastering, lubing splines, relocating R/R, new saddlebags, highway pegs, windshield.
Scratch that...make that getting her ready for sale. Nope, scratch THAT! I'm keeping her!

You might be able to go here: http://www.kawasaki.com/DefaultFrame...OSEVEHICLE.ASP
to type in the VIN and get some info. All the VN750's from 1986 to 2006 are pretty much interchangeable with parts and accessories. There are minimal differences with things like the master cyl and such, but over all, it is the same bike year after year.
My first step would be to drain the gas from the tank then the carbs, and add some fresh gas, with about half a can of seafoam. Check the electrical system, put a charged battery in it and see if it will fire up. If you know it runs, it will be a real motivator on getting everything else fixed! Good luck and don't be shy here. There are loads of folks ready to help you, even some parts laying around...

Even though it is an en500 Seafoam, duct tape, silicone and super glue will work the same as on a vn750.
