Shakin Apart

OK now that I have a few rides in on the vn700 I have some questions:
Do they all shake to the point that the feet and keester get numb in about 5 minutes, the gages are unreadable and it is impossible to tell if the vehicle behind you has two headlights?
I have noticed that at idle the bike is fine but from about 1500 until the RPMs get up around 4500 the bike literally shakes itself apart in all gears. I watched the windscreene bolt back out and drop off. I feel kinda concerned that I'm riding in city traffic at 25 MPH in first gear to keep from being shaken off the bike myself. As I down shift to slow down I have trouble feeling my feet for the rear brake.
If this isn't normal for the VNs what the heck is going on?
I bought the bike as an unrunning basket case. Couldn't get it to fire, went through electrical stuff, thought I had it licked but ended up pulling the engine to replace the dampners and rebuilt the crankcase with JB Weld (the dampners had failed and the drive gear bolt dropped releasing the gear and it chewed a hole in the crank case). Had one heck of a time with the junction box and IC Ignitor but finally got the beast to fire on both the front and back. Now I can hardly stand riding because it shakes so damn bad and I'm losing pieces!
I do have to say it is fun running down the highway at 65 or 70 and knowing I have more if I want it!

Did you properly align the balancer with the rotor? There should be little to no vibration.

Well something is definately wrong , because the Vuclan is one of the smoothest running V tiwns out there.

There is a point around 3000-3500 rpms where you can feel a little shake , but the rest is butter (for a V twin)

Are you sure the timing is right?

Vibration can be subjective (not saying you are exaggerating here) but if there is someone near you with another Vulcan you can try you should be able to see the difference.

Haven't tried to adjust the timing, not even sure how to do it.
No one near Anchorage that I have met, yet.
Sounds like another engine pull to make sure, again (have to do the head gasket anyway)

Balancer and rotor line up marks.

https://www.vn750.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=651

If you lined up the marks you may just need to syncronize you carbs, there is no timing adjustment.

I believe I did line them up correct, but that was several months ago...
I will try to sync the carbs this weekend.

Where do I hook up the manometer to synch the carbs?

The vacuum ports. Turn your petcock to "PRI" make sure engine is at opperating temp. check at idle and 4000 rpm. Connect both hoses before starting engine.

OK, hooked up the carbtune, carbs were within 2 cm of each other so I didn't tinker with them.
Guess it's another engine pull to go back in and make sure the balancer and rotor are lined up the way they should be, gotta pull the engine to replace the head gasket anyway.
