I've been working on my dad 2005 Kawasaki Vulcan 750 and I am having a tough time getting it to start. We got a brand new Duration battery and had it hooked up to a trickle charger but it still won't start. Nothing happens when you turn the key to on. I think it is something with the wiring but not sure how to go about fixing it.
Hi Lily, welcome, and I hope we can get it going again.
Is there any history on the bike?
Was it start recently, or has it been sitting unused for a while?
Were there any issues with it leading up to it's "dead" state, or is this sudden?
Was the battery replaced because it woudn't turn on, or did it stop turning on when you replaced the battery?
First thing to check ... is there for sure good contact at the battery cables? No corrosion on the wires that get bolted on? Red wire to positive terminal? Always pays to check the easy stuff before messing with the hard stuff. Do you have a multimeter around for when we start pulling wires?
