I maybe wrong but

Something doesn't look right to me about this. I was looking for parts on ebay to repair my bike when I came across this.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/85-KA...spagenameZWDVW

But the bid starts at $499.99 & it shows shipping to me as $250.00

Now for $750.00-Plus I would expect it to be a compleate running engine.
Here is the

DESCRIPTION
This is a good running motor for a 85 Kawasaki VN750 Vulcan. This motor comes with no charging system, case covers, rotors, starter or clutch.

Would you pay that much for a Half stripped engine?

That's an odd description for a motor that otherwise "runs good." I'm gonna shoot the seller and email and see whazzup with that. There's over 6000 of us here, and I imagine none of us were born yesterday!

UPDATE: I sent the email and now we wait. Either this place is ignorant about what they're selling, or they're trying to pull one over on somebody (in which case, we can flag 'em. Somehow. Can't you on eBay?)

No. And there's a guy in the classified talking about pricing his full running engine for less than that...

"This motor comes with no charging system, case covers, rotors, starter or clutch."
If by Charging system he means Battery, R/R, fuse box, CDI and coils.. ok
But if means the stator is gone then what are the wires coming out of the left side case?
Case Covers? Is he talking the side covers and neck covers?
Rotors? From the front wheel?
Starter?.. ok, that is normal since the starter attachs to the engine, just like the fuse box, CDI, coils, battery..
Clutch? If the clutch plates have been removed that would be really odd, but removing clutch cables is standard along with throttle cables.
I've seen some engines for twice the price that have just pretty much just the engine block.
$200-250 would be about normal for shipping

Hmmm, if it is from an '85, it should have a black engine?!
And unless from Canada (I think), the '85 was a 700?!

Strange description. Guess we'll have to wait and see what Cindy finds out.

I think Hyper's right. If it's an '85 then it has to be a Canadian model. Outside of the starter, the pics show pretty much all of the stuff "not included". Are they taking that stuff off? I noticed on that eBay listing, he gave a phone number, I'd call that and sorta "feel them out". Personally, I think $750 for an '85 is steep, you could probably get a complete bike for that. Anyway, good luck.

Seems a high price for no warranty, stripped down engine from 1985. I would keep looking if I were you. Try to find an engine locally where the seller will offer at least a 30 day guarantee/warranty. If not locally, at least within a couple hundred miles of your area so you can drive there.

That's my 2 cents.

Well My thought was He'll show you a compleate engine. Strip as much as he can get away with. Sell the stripped engine for a premium price. Then watch as you bid on the items so you can make the engine compleate again.
That way he can get $1000.-$1200. for the engine.
