"vulcan speed"

did anyone get ever get on a nice strip and open her up? im sure some have. i know this must have been brought up before but i was wondering what kind of top speeds the 750's hit. i have been suprised of the power these bikes have. i've hit 110 and she was still pulling "vulcan speed"! im not driving around like a speed demon but every now and then in a safe area i may crack 'er open.

disclaimer: im not trying to advocate any unsafe practices here in any way.

I have also hit 110 with a little more left in her before having to back off. 520 floating bridge is only so long...LOL

Not to mention cops everywhere, including helicopters. Woke up to the news camera showing 2 bikes running 100+ down I-405 being followed by the state patrol chopper. The bikers didn't have a clue they were busted for 25-30 miles. It's just not worth it in a metro area. Get over to North East WA state where you won't see a cop for 200 miles at a time and you could get away with it easier.

I got to just over a buck 20 on a flat straight highway on the way to the Pocono Mountains a while back. I only hit it for a second or 2 before backing her down. There wasn't a soul on the road. I was in 5th (duh) just about to red line...

Mine's been to 110-115 (indicated), and it might have gone a bit further if the PA roads were worthy of seeing such speeds.

Not really. Gearing is not the simple way to go faster. Horsepower is.

You have to increase horsepower to overcome air resistance. The faster you want to go the more power is needed, and it is not a linear difference, To go twice as fast you need almost 6 times the horsepower.

To go an honest 150 mph you would need at least 140 rear wheel horsepower. I think the Vulcan has about 40. If it had a sixth gear you'd need a stiff tail wind and a long steep hill to get here going 150 mph.............
