Starting trouble

My 01 VN750 is no longer starting. I was having battery charging issues so I did the tuxedo mod to replace the stator and it would not start. I also have gotten a new r/r since that tested bad and the battery is new and a sealed type.

It started before replacement so I'm wondering if I put it in wrong or put the wiring in the wrong order (if that matters).

I can hear the engine try to turn over but it simply won't start. The two spark plugs I was able to check weren't perfectly clean but did generate sparks. I have tried shooting carb cleaner in the air intake to get it to start. The air filter was brittle and falling apart so I know I need to replace that. My thoughts now are turning to the starter.

Prior to any work, I did have to jump my bike with a car battery as well. I have a video I can upload of me attempting to start it if that helps. Any help is greatly appreciated

Slip the boots off the back of the carbs and see if there's any foam piled up in there. It can't breathe if the throats are clogged. While the boots are loose, spray some cleaner directly into the carb throats and try to start. Starting fluid would be better.

Should also check the oval ducts at the filter housings. You can take the filters off and look through that way.

Thanks I'll try that. Unfortunately the bike isn't currently at my apartment so I would like a few places to look. Also I couldn't get the video to upload to YouTube but believe it may be helpful. Will try again at home
