gas milage ear shave

I was curious to see how your bikes do after ear shave with or without re jetting.
I got my vn750 already ear shaved without a rejet and ive been seeing a consistent 35.23 mpg city only. Never been on high way. Its my current daily to work its about a 14 mile trip about 7 miles both ways. Also what Oct you guys running premium here is 91 so thats what ive been pumping. Also my Speedo is jumpy so my numbers might be a little off. And ive got to replace my tires soon.

42-44 mpg, stock jets.

Premium fuel will only hurt mpg and cause carbon buildup on this engine.

Running Premium gas is a waste of your money. These engines run much better on "regular" fuel. Earshaved bikes tend to burn a bit more fuel. About 4-5 miles per gallon LESS than a stock bike. (This taking in those that re-jet) those that do not re-jet after going to pod type airfilters still seem to be a tiny bit less fuel efficient....

Keep in mind average mpg figures vary depending on other variables. I averaged 38 mpg on my brand new completely stock bike. But I have a heavy wrist.

I don't really give a fuk about mpg figures. I measured my bike in "smiles per gallon"....

I'm completely stock. Well, have the screws turned out 1/4 turn. I'm getting mid 40s to 47-48 on longer trips. That seems pretty standard from my experience with this bike. I think I run it pretty hard, but you guys must be really cranking it!

Ah well downloadable manual says 91 and previous owner said thats what he used. I guess ill switch next tank either way better than my car used 89 and got 17 city. Thanks guys and anything else I should change to improve mpg ? Tires and Speedo I know I need pods are new uni.

Mine is ear shaved with stock jets, main needle raised a couple spots and idle air screw backed out about 3 1/2 turns. Best I can tell, I average around 33-35 mpg. I'm usually really hard on acceleration though.

That's 91- RON . In the United States we use a different rating:

"In most countries, including Australia, New Zealand and all of those in Europe,[citation needed] the "headline" octane rating shown on the pump is the RON, but in Canada, the United States, Brazil, and some other countries, the headline number is the average of the RON and the MON, called the Anti-Knock Index (AKI), and often written on pumps as (R+M)/2. It may also sometimes be called the Posted Octane Number (PON)."

So the manual says to use 91 RON which is the same as 87 octane here.
Higher octane gas does not have more "power", it's just harder to ignite.

Just took a 300 mile trip this weekend. About 160 of it was 80mph steady. I got around 44 mph. My bike info is in my signature.

Removed mufflers, straight pipes out of GB
110/90 Front Tire
Pick-up coil re-gapped to .020"

Repainted Metallic Blue w/ new tank bages
Ear Shave (wo/ coasters) 40/140 NO shims 45MPG
MCCT conversion
