Please integrate into the website.

Please integrate postimage.org into the site. It makes it super easy, you can manage your images all over the Web from 1 postimage.org account on all boards you post on, and it is designed to be used in all forums as an add on.

It also removes all image loads from the website making it much better for your bandwidth and load. You can choose any size to upload so rather than getting image too big errors all the time users will be able to always upload their images.

this is something that can be looked into and investigated more. We will have to run it by our tech department and obviously the moderators and admins here for approval. id also like to hear what the community thinks about this as well to get some opinions on it. We do have attachments and image embedding, having another one (after checking out the plugin) seems kind of over the top with the regular options already there. Id like to hear what others think about this though. thanks for letting us know.

We will check back in a bit after some feedback and opinions come in.

It's not too bad on the full site, but on mobile its nearly impossible to upload a pic from my phone. Like most I have a newer phone, Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. It takes images much larger than the forum allows. There is no resize option on them like on postimage.org so the site simply denies it and I can't post pics from my phone, which like many is the only way I usually surf and post on the site. I simply can't post at all to share images.

So to itemize the plugin:
  • resize uploads to any percentage of original
  • use your postimage account to control ALL your images across all forums you use including twitter, facebook, etc
  • maintain your images from your postorg account instead of having to search your threads
  • uses your manage attachments button and simply uploads to that server instead, fully integrated

Issues with using the forum attachment:
  • no image search ability
  • no maintanence of image ability
  • no resize option
  • no way to post from a phone with reasonable resolution
  • no ability to share the image across all forums using only 1 upload
  • increased server load and slower page loads using in house site bandwidth

I've administrated and moderated Clublexus ? Lexus News and Forums for 11 years, the largest Lexus enthusiast site on the web. We have been discussing this on our site because of all the benefits and I believe we will be doing the changeover.

So what happens when postimage goes down and wipes all of the images? I'm wondering on that. Since if the site goes down, the images upload on out site are backed up therefore it can easily be recovered. But since postimage is a third party, we will need to rely on the third party to recover our images. Are they being shared on other sites? I'm not sure if our users like their personal images being shared.

If I wanted to host my images on a third party site, I'd use Imgur.

Postimage.org ?

No thanks....

If you have a problem loading photos using the mobil version, do what I do and don't use it...I use the "classic" site btw.......it's only an "option" you know.

Photobucket, Flikr, DP, and every other host has never lost an image in 10 years. That situation is up to THEIR admin to backup and of course they do. They are not a forum with constant updates on VBull code. The most they do is a security update. Nearly impossible situation. What monster scale web admin doesn't have a backup?

They are only being shared if you share them. I've tried changing postimage url's by 1 number to see if I could randomize the image and came back blank every time.

EDIT: Since VN750 is on a corporate server the space issue and bandwith issue is less a bullet point. Mostly it's about the uselessness of the upload feature when trying to upload an image with no resize option and a kickout every time of denial for size limits. The site needs adjusting for it's users. You can find options in your Vbull panel for uploading with a 5mb limit for example with an auto resize. It would work and fix the upload issue people have using decent phones that take larger images they cant resize.

Right, you would. Have to go to the site, Have to upload it, have to get the URL, have to bring it back and post it. The postimage plug in does nothing to the normal you do, just uses that host and adds a bunch of awesome options. You are still on VN750 using your attach button with auto insert.

Side note: it really isn't about hosting, it's about the mobile options not being set up correctly. I've never had a server issue on my end from vn750.com and it pings quickly. You just have to keep updating the site to today's technology to make it useful to users and today's phones are powerful and take some nice pics, but being on 2003 upload restrictions just doesn't work for today's super phones.

Please look at your upload options in vbull for mobile and set it to upload and resize images so it doesn't fail the upload so users can post images. that's a viable option as well, I just like the options given to the user by postimage.org since it integrates into the manage attachments feature.

How many here have "super phones" ?

I think some members are still using home PC's with dial up service....
