Regulator Fix

I think I know what the problem is. I recently went thru the same thing with mine. Only I had to go and replace the stator before I found the real problem. Unbolt your stator and move it up under the seat. You will have to make a new ground wire or go to the local lawn mower shop and buy a ground wire. Bolt it to one of the mounting holes on the regulator and the frame ground. You would think with the regulator bolted to a metal battery box and it bolted to a metal frame that you would have a good ground. Guess again. It worked on mine. Hope it fixxes yours. Happy riding.

I don't think you REALLY meant to say.. " Unbolt your stator and move it up under the seat."

Grounding the heatsink on the R/R will do nothing since the R/R is completly sealed and suspended in the heatsink. Your contacts probably made better contact with each other when you removed and installed the connector.

The connectors on the R/R are critical ,as are the 3 bullet connectors coming from the stator. I have a feeling that what causes a lot of stators and R/Rs to fail is corrosion on those connections, which creates more resistance. I disconnect and reconnect mine every few months, and keep them soaked in WD40. This is also a good idea when you wash the bike. Calcium in the water can get into those connections, and start corrosion. Jerry.
