This past week I rode to the Motorcycle Hall of Fame with a couple of friends. It was a chilly but gorgeous fall day. We took back roads and "blue highways" from Cincinnati to Columbus and back.

My VN 750 more than held its own with my companions' BMW K 1200 GT ("flying brick") and Honda ST 1300!

The HOF is a great place. I thought the coolest bikes were this pair designed by Arlen Ness ~ "King of Choppers."

But my favorite display was the BMW R1100 GS on loan from Neil Peart. It was the bike he rode on the 55,000-mile road trip he detailed in his book Ghost Rider. The drum kit is the one he played during Rush's R30 tour.

I've driven past that place for years, twice a day. I've never stopped. I've always been very currious about it though. Looks like it is pretty interesting.

I drove past there on my way to and back from a Machining training class in Columbus several years ago, but was on a kinda tight schedule and didn't have time to check it out. (that was at the same time there was some wacko shooting at cars around the I-270 area)

I really like Neil Peart's bike!
One of these days I'll make it there.

Coy Miller built a "57 looking" bike like that (before he passed away), to match a car he was doing at the same time, and they both went to the same customer. The bike looked cool sitting next the car it came from.

It'd be interesting to see which of those two guys built the "car inspired" bike first though, IMO.

I've done inventories at stores all around that place. cvs, giant eagle, gander mountain, walgreens but never seen it, it must be back off the road a bit. time for a road trip. I'm only an hour away!

If you were at gander mountain it would be on the other side of the freeway from there.

Great pictures, thanks for sharing. I like Rush's music but never hear of the book Ghost Rider, anyone recommend it?

I just read it. Neil Peart went on a solo motorcycle road trip after both his teenage daughter (accident) and his wife (cancer) died in one year. The book is a journal of sorts. I really liked it. But before reading it you might want to go to Amazon.com and read some of the several hundred customer reviews. Some loved it, some hated it, but the overall average is 4 out of 5 stars.

Neil's written several books. I'm about ready to begin the book Roadshow (about a a concert tour by motorcycle).

I read Ghostrider after reading this thread (I was unaware Neal was an author) I really liked his depiction of riding all across this continent and especially the last chapter, but the "Letters to Brutus" was a bit much for me. I was up and down emotionally with it, as my wife has gone through chemo and raditaion threapy also, but I'm thankful to say that she is now considered a cancer survivor, just 2 years past the first treatments. Some people comment about his apparent lack of faith in his later books, but I hope to pickup a copy of Roadshow next, because it is supposed to focus more on the riding. Any updated reviews on Roadshow, Rector?
