: Good place to buy parts?

I just got my first bike, 86 VN750, a month ago, and still need to buy a couple parts.
I've picked up a brake pedal and saddlebags on ebay, bought the MF battery (as suggested), but I still need a few things.

I called a local place I've been driving past for years and found out they only sell Harley parts. I've found the kawa part numbers of the stuff I need from buykawasaki.com, but I haven't found a decent place to actually purchase replacement parts. I seem to be finding places with aftermarket or non-stock replacement parts (like highway pegs, but I need the stock peg).

I need a front peg, looks like brake pads soon, front brake light switch, glove-box thing behind the sissy bar, and little things I'm sure I'm forgetting.

Is there a typical online place where I can order this kind of stuff? Or an auto parts chain type of place I can get lucky through?

This is my first experience with a motorcycle, and so far, I love it. I got an awesome deal because the owner was in a tight spot, and he couldn't get it started when I looked at it, and it needed a starter relay. I cleaned the tank, wirebrushed the contact surfaces of the button, wired in an automotive relay I had sitting around, and now have a great bike to learn/commute/have a lotta fun on.

I recently went shopping for parts to get ready for my stator replacement. I followed the same reccommendations that I have given others.
http://www.ronayers.com/index.cfm
then armed with the part numbers and prices (Ron Ayers has online microfiche also) I checked my local dealers (prices significantly higher) and then called Ron Greene http://www.rongreenesportscenter.com
As usual they were even lower than Ron Ayers and they got my business.

I am looking for a new speedo.

My one doesn't show the speed anymore, although it shows the distance travelled.

Any idea where I can find one?

I looked through the links provided above, but I couldn't find any speedo there.

Thanks,

Mark

I think the cheapest place to get OEM parts is cycle-parts.com. I've used them many times and have never been disappointed. It does take about 2 weeks, though, before your parts arrive.

I'd be interested to know if they're cheaper than ronayers - if anyone does some price checking.

I just bought mirrors for my EX500, but a little later saw a post where www.shadetreemotorcycle.com (http://www.shadetreemotorcycle.com) was half the price I had paid - so a lot of EX500 riders were ordering them there. I checked the site for the mirror price, and the info was accurate. To see if they have VN750 parts, you would probably need to get the OEM part number from microfiche and key it in. Other items you might need, though, are listed on the site under various topics -- looked good to me. Good luck!
