I was riding my 750 back from this other town about 14 mi away and about close to home about 5 miles, it started to act like it was down on power or missing,
all fluids and antifreeze are ok,
could it be a plug or maybe fuel starved,
as it wasnt hot,
but i noticed it wasnt warming up this was after about 24 miles and fully warmed up i thought?
It started to miss or felt funny when i noticed the fuel guage was low, and then I slowly rode it home and was babying it so it as i didnt want nothing to go bad, please help ok,
kansas kirk, PS,
dont ride with shorts on except in the nice part of the summer as i was coming home and my lags were really cold, so I learned my lesson to put long pants on when riding most of the yr,

Mine used to loose one cylender when it got low on fuel.
I switched to reserve and it fixed it till I filled up.
Just rember to switch back to run:)

Agrees with Ccspinner, when I hit that level that the reserve is needed it shuts down the (rear?) one cylinder till I turn the fuel switch to reserve. Then she picks up and straight to the gas station I go.
Just to be safe you can try pulling the plugs and make sure youre getting an even burn on them.

Peace :beerchug:

And it wouldn't be right if such an issue existed without mentioning to try adding some Seafoam.

Lately if I run mine down to the reserve level, when I switch it's ok for a second then really bogs till the fuel gets going again. Then she's great. I did that last night after the fun with trooper. I put 3 gallons in. I was pretty low.

Might want to check the carb vent hose too, did it bottom out on you? Mine did and a quick snip at a 45 and put it back in the cage and it's been running great since.

Has anyone else ever had this happen?

When I ride to work, I park on a slight incline (maybe 10-15%, not much). Sometimes when my gas gauge reads around 1/2 a tank, I'll start my bike and head out of the parking lot and up the hill toward the highway; Before I get there, she'll just die... bog for a few feet and just give up the ghost. First time this happened, I sat there and cranked and cranked and nearly killed the battery.

Then it hit me it may be low on fuel or something, so switched to reserve. After cranking a few more times, it fired up and we went straight to the gas station. This has happened twice since then, same exact scenario, stopping at the same spot and everything. So now, when my gauge reads 1/2, I just start out with it switched on "reserve" and there is no problem.

I know the tank is slanted somewhat toward the rear of the bike, but should it 'run out of gas' when it's showing 1/2 a tank on the gauge? (and refilling at this point will only take 2 gallons)

Maybe your draw tube is taller than most.

Ok, now I'm REALLY gonna show my ignorance..... what's a 'draw tube' ?

It is the fuel tube that is about an inch from the bottom of the fuel tank. When it can no longer get fuel one turn to reserve and start to get fuel from the very bottom of the tank. Does that make sense??

Sounds more like the "Phantom Out of Gas" Syndrome. There is a very small vent in the gas cap that may be clogged. It seems that when the tank gets to about 1/2 full/empty, the engine suffers from fuel starvation and quits. Popping the tank open or letting it sit for a few minutes seems to cure it 'til the next time.
Do a search for the Phantom Out of Gas Syndrome and a possible solution is there.

I've never heard of that, but it sounds worth checking into.... thanks !!

You could have a bad sending unit. Mine was and would only go to 1/2 and no further. Bought a new one for about $50 from cheapcycleparts.com and I'm back in business. If you get a new one, be sure you observe exactly how the old one comes out of the tank so you can put the new one in the same way. It'll go in more than one way, but only works when installed correctly.

I also put a new fuel tap on while at it since the bike sat for 10 years and was leaking from the tap. That costs about $60 from the same place, you need the tank off to do both so why not do it all while you have the tank off.
