I just bought a set of Saddlebag Supports from Ebay. I attached them on the inside of the bike and it looks like they will work out fine. (Between the chrome passenger handle and the frame) My question is...

Should I have attached them to the ouside of the bike? How much room do you need between the saddlebags and the rear tire?

I believe that most saddlebag supports are designed to mount on the outside of the chrome rails, and you want as much room as possible between the supports and the tire in my opinion.
