just got through reinstalling engine after teardown to replace leaking cylinder base gasket. while apart i pulled the driveshaft to lube the splines.the engine end looked good but the coupler at the final drive end was dry and full of rusty powder i cleaned it up abd greased it but need to replace it asap.bike bandit shows the coupler being replaceable is it possible to replace it just by pulling the final drive or does the entire driveshaft have to be removed?

I beleive you only have to pull the final drive to get to the coupler. Fergy's write up includes removing the coupler IIRC.

Sky rider is right you have to pull the final drive. Then the tricky part is trying to pull and remove the spring clip that holds the coupling on. You have to find a long, thin spring clip puller. I bought one when I lubed my spines and it was not long enough. Had to do it the hard way with some sharp pointed picks and many attempts to remove the clip. Take your time and keep your cool. Then putting it back in is even harder. LOL
