great web site. anyone familar with this noise? when coasting in gear (to a stop sign for example) the engine makes a strange ticking noise, as soon as i pull in the clutch lever the noise is gone. anyone have experinced this before? any help would be appreciated.

does the ticking noise keep time with the speed of the revolutions of the engine, the speed of your deceleration, or is it independent of both? ive not had this problem but you might try putting it up on blocks and seeing if you can make it do it and really identify where the ticking is coming from.

get a hose and put an ear to it and point it around the engine until you locate the loudest point - it can be difficult to really locate the sound unless you isolate it that way - but when you do you will really have a good indication of the trouble spot.
