I am very new to this and this is my first Vulcan so forgive me if this has been asked a 100 times already.
When I change gears it is very loud is that normal? I mean it shifts good but it sounds really loud. Is there something that i could oil that may quite it down? Maybe it needs lubed or something I don't know. If anyone has any answers i would be happy to hear them Thanks, in advance. BUCKMAN:doh:

My Vulcan 750 is louder than any bike I've had before (it's my first V-Twin, for one thing)... but it's quiet when I shift!

What do you mean by loud?
Engine noise loud (tapping or grinding)
Exhaust loud (popping)
Other loud (?)

If your refering to a "click" When you **** gears, Then mine does that too. It's not THAT loud though. I'm not sure if it's normal.

Do you mean when down shifting? I don't hear mine much when up shifting, only down. I flat shift alot going up through the gears.

There should be a noise when you shift but if it's a very loud clunk, you may have a problem. However, as long as it's shifting easy and there are no shavings or other contaminates in the oil, I wouldn't worry about it. If it gets hard to shift or drops gears alot, that may point to a bent shift dog but these are difficult to damage unless the bike's been wrecked in some way. The engine and the tranny share the oil on our bikes so you may think about a heavier weight oil like 20W-50 if you live in a hotter climate. Other than that, Kaw recommends 10W-40.

You probably shouldn't **** gears...
*ahem*
A bit of a clunk is normal - but it shouldn't be "loud"... clear as mud (or what MR embrey said?)
