I was told by a Kawasaki Service Manger that when i had my new tires put on by them last year that it as standard practice to lube the drive shaft splines when installing the new tires, and that i shouldn't need to lube my splines, had my tires put on aug 2007. any comments on this?
thanks. james

Here's my 2½¢ on this.....
It seems that many dealers have little to no idea what is involved in lubing the drive shaft splines.
They might say they did, but if I didn't see them do it myself, I would go with the idea that they didn't and do it (or atleast check it) myself.
And if it wasn't also a Honda dealer, chances are good that they didn't use Moly 60 (or a good comparable) lube.
It's not that tough to do and, the first time, might take at most an hour. After that, it shouldn't take more than ½ hour.
Maybe go to the dealer and ask them what all they did to lube the splines. If they seem to give you some run around story, I'd suspect they didn't do it.
If they give a good explanation, it will give you a better idea of what it takes to do it yourself.
Hypers right, If you didn't see them do it it probably didn't get done,I'm gonna have to replace final drive I think, cos I was told it was done!!
