I bought a tube of Color Rite to fix some scratches on my gas tank.
I applied the paint following the directions on the tube, but the paint spots look worse than the scratches did. The scratches were small and hard to see. But the paint sticks out like a sore thumb.
I've tried polish, but that won' t cut it. Maybe rubbing compound??
What do you think?

have a PPG paint dealer match the paint on your bike. cheapest way would be to have them give you the little aerosol <sp> cans that hook up to a glass/plastic cylinder and spray the paint on. Mask out the area you want to paint, plus about an inch over overlap on the existing paint, then wetsand it down, paint, westand (as long as it is not metallic), and clearcoat, and wetsand, then buff.

Depending on how good you are at fanning out the paint near the the overlap, you may need to remove the tape and wetsand around the painted area so it matches.

You probably won't get a perfect match though.

I would test the paint on a piece of sheetmetal before putting it on your bike!

However I have already used the paint pen that I bought from Color Right. The color was a match for my color.
It looks like I will need a lot of elbow grease to get a nice finish though.
