I'll see what I can work out for a 2nd annual Potluck Jamboree.
I was thinking maybe scheduling this one around a motorcycle swap meet in Salem Ohio....
April 13, 2008, 15th Annual Motorcycle Swap Meet
Sponsored by Jim Lambert
The swap meet will be held at the Salem Little Quaker Bingo Hall, 1688 South Lincoln Avenue in Salem. Doors open at 10:00 am. General admission is $5.00.
Not sure how big of an event this is though. And a little later in the year might be a bit better, but just a thought for now.

hey, i went to sign up for this and they asked for a credit card. what's up with that?! why do they need a credit card for a "free" forum? anyways, i didn't sign up.

ok, i tried again, (i don't know what i was doing before, must be all the eggnog.) and now it tells me my memberships is pending and that the owner of the site has to approve it. what?! yahoo blows! this site (vn750.com) rules! i didn't have to jump through all these hoops and then wait to get on this site! i love this site! that's why i never signed up for yahoo and now that i have (well, kind of, i'm still waiting to be "approved") i still won't waste my time with the yahoo site.

I'm not sure why you got asked for a credit card, however I just approved your membership to the yahoo group. I was going to send you an invite to the group and your membership was already there pending approval.
Unfortunately we had to switch to the approval process to keep the spammers out some time ago BUT.. It IS a FREE Forum and no credit card info is needed.

Now the question is.. If you didn't sign up, how did the app get there?

Seems to be quite a few people in the PA, MD, NJ, DE, NVA area. What would be a central location to meet? I was thinking somewhere in the Breezewood, PA to Harrisburg, PA to Frederick, MD area. I would be willing to travel up to 150 miles or so (from the DC area) for an informal afternoon meet and greet. Could be a restaurant or a park or a local K dealer?? Maybe plan for srping or later summer to not conflict with Hyper's Pot luck Jamboree. Just a thought . . . :smiley_th

Hi all! I'd be interested in a ride if one comes my way (York, PA). I just got my bike in September and never really got the chance to take her for a decent trip. I'll certainly keep an eye out here to see whats up. :smiley_th

If you call filling in some info "jumping through all these hoops" , you have not been on many forums yet. The Yahoo group does this to avoid spammers...which I have seen do infect this forum and others that do not require some kind of checkpoint.
You should also thank God for the Yahoo group, as it was started first , and most of the bulk of the info collected on the Vulcan 750 was done there. The Vulcan Verses are almost entirely posts from Vulcan owners on that site. Our once fellow Vulcan owner Stewart Nyi did the bulk of the work assembling that data, and to him we should are give a nod of thanks.

I personaly like the Yahoo forum more than this one. I think this forum is better suited for technical aspects and questions, with alot of information available for those that either ask or wish to search for it.
The Yahoo forum is, as Dianna once described it, like a group of folks sitting around in someones garage shoot'n the bull and enjoying a cold one...(not an exact quote but you get the picture..) As each post there simply logs by time, it is a continuing dialog that you can join in on or simply sit there and listen to. If you don't check in every now and then you have to go back and read through the posts to catch up sometimes.

Anyway, I tend to bounce between both forums, and a few FJR forums on a daily basis, and I still like the Yahoo Vulcan group the best, but that might just be because that is what I was brought up on....;)

You may not have gone through any type of verification when you signed up here.. BUT.. that was then.
I don't know if you have noticed or not but the amount of Spam that seemed to hit this site has virtually disappeared. DMAG has put some things into action that no longer makes it easy to just sign up and start posting away.
http://www.vn750.com/forum/register.php?do=register
Note the mention of a "the confirmation email allowing you to post."
Yahoo group simply require "approval" which means a moderator (I'm one there also) looks at your request and approves it. If it is questionable we will either let it time out or deny. Main reasons for denying a request there are
1. Brand new account and comments entered were nil or jhsjkdghui gt or such.
If the account looks questionable we may approve but in a moderated status. Once we determine it's not a spammer, the moderated status is removed.

So.. if you have to go through a hoop or two, it's worth it in my book. I'd much rather verify my email instead of dealing with a bunch of spam.

well i've tried the yahoo forum and i just can't get into it. i just really like this one better. i think this one has a WAY better set up.
well if the yahoo forum was first, then i am thankful someone started a vn750 forum. but since then someone started this forum (which i consider new and improved) and for that, i am even more thankful for.
if someone likes the yahoo forum better that this one, that's cool! but for me, this one suits me better.

[QUOTE=Dianna;47826]August 20-24 The Gathering at Shawnee Bay resort on Kentucky Lake!QUOTE]
What town is this close to, as I couldn't find Shawnee Bay on the map??
This sounds interesting to me as it would only be a days ride to Ky. lake area from South central Tn.... N.W. of Paducah Ky. there is Shawnee steam plant & North of Paducah there is Shawnee National Forrest but I could not find Shawnee Bay around Ky. lake.... Is it West of Ky. lake, or between Ky. lake and Lake Barkley???
Thanks and have a good one...Old Dog...

Depending on where you are in S. Central Tennessee, and when you want to leave...
Grambo (and hopefully Jangles from Vancouver, B.C.) will be coming up from Nashville, and Preacher Ron from Cookeville may be going. Last year, I think several from North Carolina met at Grambo's, before they all headed up to Kentucky Lake. You might be able to hook up with one or some of them to ride up. Just a thought...

I'll be going up from either Houston, or the Texas Hill Country, depending on whether I get moved back by then or not, but I _will_ be going. Don't know yet who else might be going from Texas, but at least two that I know of are possibles.

Jim;
I haven't exactly picked a route yet, just glanced over the map and think I would probably be coming up west of Nashville, I live in southern Tn., not too far N.E. of Huntsville Ala. in the town of Winchester, Tn. I hate interstate riding and would probably travel the lesser roads...
Thanks and have a good one...Old Dog...

Congrats on another win with your chili:beerchug:
Well you're contagious! With Starr riding back home Friday and temps in the low 30's, I had a big pot of chili waiting for him. Made this one hotter than usual since I kept adding spices and ummm tasted too soon afterwards so I added more! Ohhh yeah, got him warmer up real quick! *L* :pepper::pepper::pepper::pepper::pepper:

Hey, I just realized that Shawnee Bay Resort is only an easy one day ride from me!! I have to go! :smiley_th Is there any info posted yet? Is it camping or cabins? Would most people ride in on the 20th or the 19th? Leave to go home on Sunday or Monday?

I can't believe it. One I can realistically ride to! :pepper:

i hear ya about the thinking about riding part!
as for the Louie run, i just check and it's only $10.00 prepay or at the gate day of.

as more runs and rides come up we'll have to see what we can get together on, or we can make up are own. like Q.S.L. in Eire, PA. and we promise to make it this year come hell or high water!
