It's not too hard of a job if you have some mechanical ability.
If you don't have a service manual, there is an online one available HERE (http://tocmanufacturing.com/Files%20for%20Download/VN750%20Manual%20and%20Parts.pdf).
There are some "Special Tools", but many people have made do with homemade versions.

Just be sure to take pictures throughout the disassembly so you are sure how to get things back together.
And make sure you put the right bolts back into the right bolt holes for the clutch cover. I believe there are several different lengths, so you don't want to get them mixed up.

My clutch write up is there , along with others info.

(note , the photos refered to in my write up can now be found at my flicker site below..)

Replacing the clutch plates has to be one of the easiest jobs on that bike. Its not hard at all. Even if your not inclined.

Clutch replacement is a breeze on our bike.

Jut rember a few things

1. drain the oil (good time to change out oil and filter)
2. Get a new Gasket (dont care how carefull you are its about 10 bucks and its will save u a head ache later)
3. Get a good clutch kit (EBC makes a racing kit using stronger springs and Kevlar coated plates)
4. Soak the new plates in oil before re packing the clutch.
5. Dont forget to adjust the clutch before you ride (Best way to burn up the new clutches) Just turn the adjuster all the way and then work it out till it starts to grab then sneak it back a hair.

Have Fun!
