Let's see . . . great weather, great turnout, many, and many incredible bikes! :motorcycl

I have not seen the official count, but I heard there were over 3000 bikes there. We went off in escorted groups of 300 bikes. Pretty neat to be in a group of 300 bikes - it was a first for me. Really awesome! And REALLY LOUD!

But unfortunately I had to bail about half way thru the ride due to an electrical gremlin. :(

Jiggling wires finally got it running again but we did not want it quitting in one of the tunnels - absolutely no room to pull over and work on it. So we opted to head home when I started having problems. After getting it running again it made it back without incident and we ended up cruising to a local car show. So all in all a really great day.

I saw 3 other VN750s there and met another VN750.com member, but sorry can't remember his screen name. I should have written it down.

I would be that other member, I brought my SO out for her first event ride. Ride turned out pretty good with no one going down that I heard of. They did change the route and we only went thru Hampton Roads and Monitor Merrimac tunnels. Could not have asked for better weather. I ended up hanging out at Bayside. Spent way too much money there, but almost went over board. SO and I sat on a Ultra Classic and she fell in love.

Scoop sorry to hear about your troubles. I thought your bike looked great. How did the seat hold up? Didnt you say it was the test run?

Heres some pics. :beerchug:

Tirrell - nice meeting you - thanks for coming up and introducing yourself. Sounds like you had a good time and made it without incident.

I just had the battery box out about a week ago and must have not gotten all the connections reconnected good enough. It went totally dead on the HOV lanes - I think you were in the same group but ahead of us. It was one of those times when I was not sure what I did to fix it and didn't trust it not happening again. And like I said, I didn't want it to happen inside a tunnel! So we just headed back to Hampton after the first tunnel.

But its a great event and I plan on doing it next year!

BTW - glad your SO had a good time!

Gary

Looks like one heck of a turn-out!! And sounds like it was a great ride. :motorcycl

I think the largest group ride I've been on (Hogs For Dogs), which was also my first, was just over 1500.

I saw somewhere that this ride is the largest military benefit ride in the country.
