Read somewhere in this forum about voltmeter/thermometer/clock display.
Can anybody give info for such display (info/ordering) in order to check voltage of battery (loading or not loading due to stator/RR failure).
Greetings from Peter in cold and wet Holland (Europe). Wish it would be summer already.

I bought mine from here http://www.casporttouring.com and they want $24.25 plus shipping which is a few bucks more but I can't recall, it may go by your location. It's a decent unit but it's not waterproof so you may want to only ride on sunny days or get some sort of plastic covering for it. I've got a plastic bag on mine when it looks like rain, but Roger "Gandalf" Davis http://www.vn750.com/Docs/clock.htm will tell you how to do a better job of sealing it.

I found an Alternator Tester at Harbor Freight for $2.99 that seems to work well. I have it wired in and mounted to the handlebar where it runs vertically. The unit has six led's that measure voltage from 5 to 14. Once it stops raining, I'll take it out for a spin and tell you how it handles the rough and tumble life of a motorcycle accessory :)

Aside from getting a Maint-free battery, a voltmeter should be next on your list so that you can keep on top of what your electrical system is doing. Mine is not the prettiest, but it works great. I have it calibrated to display voltage at the battery terminals, not the fuse box. You can see mine on my web page http://www.angeltowns2.com/members/norman/norm-mods-voltmeter.htm
My future project is to put inline fuses on my stator wires so if something were to go south, at least my stator is protected. Keeping your oil fresh will also extend the life of the stator as it will take much longer for oil gunk to form in the stator and overheat it.
keep the rubber side down.

The little General works great. It's biggest problems are the LED's aren't as bright as I'd like and the top voltage LED is set at 14 volts, so it's always on whenever the revs are over 2,500. I won't be able to tell if the voltage is too high (over 14.6) but I should be able to tell if the stator conks out.

im working on a design for our bikes, a volt meter that is. it has 10 led's and completely water proof. i will set the brightness at a level easy to read and see, day or night. if i can.
i hope to make the first one in a week or two. can sell them here if anybody needs one after done. will post more info. should be competivly priced. thinking around $30 bucks or so.
