I read on this board that alot of you prefer synth. oil. I talked to an automotive person that said they would never use synth. oil in a bike. Can someone explain to me why synth. is better? Can someone direct me to a web-site with test results to back up their theory?
Thanks everybody.

Also check out the Tech forum here, there have been several discussions and articles posted on oil

The link Diana provided is quite good except for when the author goes into his candlestick worth of wax diatribe. That is not what parafinnic means when dealing with motor oils. Synthetic oil is fine for a bike, actually it's great and Mobil 1 and Amsoil make damn good MC specific oils if you can afford 'em. Now for the really good oil that cost less than $2/qt that easily will take you 100,000 miles - try Shell Rotella T 15W40. Excellent base oils and a super additive package - all a Vulcan 750 could ever want and then some.

I just saw in J&P that Castrol has a V-twin specific syn. oil. The cost was $9 a liter and I am not sure if it is worth the extra price or not. Might check and see if Castrol has any info on their site.
