As a birthday present to myself I'm taking tomorrow off of work for some quality riding time. I haven't ridden skyline drive yet and it's about 60 miles off from me. I've taken it in a car and love it, but am fully looking forward to it on the bike (and have been since I got the bike).

I'll be going over her with a fine tooth comb when I get home from work today and know most of the quirks i'm going to have to look at.

So, any one have any advice? I'm near the north end of skyline and will probably try pulling in to Front Royal in the early am hours, get some gas and grub and on we go. Recommends on food at the north or south end? I doubt I'll have time to hop onto the blue ridge as I need to be back in the DC area in the relatively early evening for a pirate musical concert (remember to celebrate talk like a pirate day tomorrow), but will definitely trek that way if I have the time.

I plan on repeating this post on the VROC list to reach a wider berth of people that might have opinions. And there will be pictures forthcoming, at least that's my hope.

Looks like it will be fantastic weather for your ride, judging by today in NVA. If I was able to take tomorrow off, I'd ask to tag along!

I have made several trips on Skyline Drive in a car (Mini Cooper S - not as fun as on a bike, but almost!) We usually go south from Front Royal and exit at Harrisonburg. Harrisonburg has plenty of good restaurants - had a great steak at the Texas Land and Cattle Co., I think it's called. Have Fun!

Wish I would've had some advice for ya, but when I rode it, we only stopped for a place to sleep and fast food eats. Besides that, you're probably already on your way.
Enjoy the ride!!!
It's going to be a busy couple of days for me, but I'm gonna try to be here to read/answer/add my 2¢ as much as possible.

It was a gorgeous ride. Full report and (hopefully) pics coming when I have more time.
Darn work, not giving me ample time to do non-work things.
