I am looking at Dunlop 404's or Metz 880's for my 98. Which tire has given the best performance/reliability? I would like to have better handeling and cornering but also good ride.
I want to use my standard rims and want to make sure I pick the right tire for the bike. I ride mostly sweeps and curves, not much highway. Thanks everyone for the advice.

Well, for size, the stock front is 100/90-19, stock rear is 150/90-15.

But many go for the 110/90-19 front and 170/80-15 rear. They are a close fit, but do fit and many say make the bike handle better.

I like the Dunlop 491 Elite II's (more of a touring tire), but from what I've been told, those are being phased out for the Elite III's, which I don't believe come in RWL (raised white letter)

I've liked how the last two sets of Elite II's I've had have wore and handled.
And I'm not much of one for casual speed riding.
I'm a bit more of a high spirited rider when I ride. Not pushing the upper limits of the bike, but still pushing it a bit.
My motto is:
Ride Hard, But Don't Have A Hard Ride!
(as you can see in my sig)

That's 170/80-15 for the rear. I just put on a set of Avon Venom X's and I really like them. Handles corners very nicely, rides smooth and next to no road noise.

That's 170/80-15 for the rear.

Oops, fixed it.
