Just found out about this event in Erie. Might be fun to do it the same weekend next year or not.

Hmmm, Edger Winter will be there Aug 11th. I just may head up for that.

Sounds like it'd be a good idea to schedule something around that.
The Yellow ride route they show on the Scenic Rides page is similar (but a little longer) to the route I first thought about.

Good idea BJ! :smiley_th

Would love to make it, but I expect the main gathering will be in Auguts again next year and I can't manage two road trips in a month.

I can understand that Gomer. I'm open for doing it whenever. Just happened to be at the end of July by, the time we figured out what we wanted to do and when. Late spring/early summer would be fine with me as long as the end of July.

Hmmm.....
I might be able to make that this year.
Couldn't make it last year to see Edgar Winter :(

Grand Marshal PETER FONDA will kick off the 2008 Roar on the Shore Bike Rally easy rider style --leading the biggest, baddest Bringin' in the Roar bike parade in Erie history!

Allready burned up some vacation time to ride up to Buffalo over the 4th weekend.

do we still have time to get the "Next Erie Potluck Jamboree" in this year? if not, could we start working on for next year?

Next year would be better for me. With starting a new job, somewhat recently, I don't have the same amount of vacation time I had saved up at my old job :(

Guess we could start working on dates for next year :smiley_th

that all sounds good to me. I took the bike out and she is going to need some repairs before ANY long trips will be made! so, I think I'm going to put her up for the winter and start the repairs as soon as I get the extra $.

so, if we start NOW, for next year, we should have plenty of time to work it all out! what do you think?

any ideas on...who? what? where? and when?

I'll work on a short (50 mile or so?... more if majority wants) ride route.
I'll probabaly be able to talk the GF into a road trip in the Jeep to find some nice roads with some decent twisties (and limited highway this time!!!)
Quaker Steak was a nice stop for eats. Although the Motel 6 I stayed in last time that was right behind there has been tore down :( ???
And what would an Erie get-together be without a cruise through Presque Isle!!
The Pot Luck Jamboree has officially been put into motion for next year!! Date TBD

Hey Slim, the Pot Luck Jamboree is at Erie, PA. There's only been one so far with 4 people attending and it only lasted 1 day, but we had 4 states represented.... PA, OH, MD & CT.
It's called the Pot Luck Jamboree mostly 'cause it's whatever happens (rides, eats, things to do) and whoever makes it. Not a whole lot of planning (at least so far)

The Gathering is at Shawnee Bay Resort at Kentucky Lake (http://www.shawneebayresort.com)
HERE (http://www.vn750.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6162&highlight=) is a post on it.
It's just completed (I believe) it's 6th year and there's much to do there.

hyper, I just checked the dates for "Roar on the Shore 2009" in Erie, PA. the dates are july 16,17,18, & 19th. so, theses dates might not be the best time to have the "Pot luck Jamboree".
we went to the "Roar on the Shore" rally this year, there was a lot of bikes and a lot more cages too! it would not make for a very nice ride through Presque Isle. just my $.02.
yes, we noticed the Motel 6 was gone too. that sucks. but we did find a very nice camp ground right before you get to Presque Isle. we camped out on the beach, on the shore of Lake Erie. it was very nice.
if you need any help with the "Erie Pot luck" just let me know.

The "Potluck" sounds like fun...I would be interested in scheduling my r&r around it so we can make it in 2009
The gathering is going to have to wait until 2010

Yeah, I'm familiar with that campground. Been there a few times years ago. Not a bad place. Just gotta be sure to call ahead to be sure to get a spot there. Paul tried getting a tent spot there at the first Pot Luck and they were all booked up :(

Maybe the week before or after the "Roar on the Shore" rally would be a bit more calm there?

I'm still hoping we'll be able to get another in the works for this year.
I haven't had a chance to get up to Erie to look for a nice ride route yet, but should soon. (being temporarily unemployed does have some advantages!)

As for a date to have it?????? Suggestions welcomed :smiley_th
