: Main board, collapsing the forum categories
admin_old 06-18-2004, 10:13 AM Yep, there are a lot of new categores.
 You can shrink or expand them by clicking on the fourm category (e.g. technical, Misc, etc...)

IASKRU12 06-22-2004, 03:12 PM The forums seem to be a little messed up. The main forum page doesn't list all of the forums. News just lists Administrative Announcements, but if I click on news itself two forums (Admin Announce and What's New) show up. The same is true for the General Forum
IASKRU12 06-22-2004, 03:22 PM IMHO we need to sharpen up the Technical Forums. 13 forums is way to many to keep track of for me. I haven't thought about posting a lot because I am not sure where I should be posting.
UncleGomer 06-22-2004, 03:31 PM I agree. Seems like we're trying to use the forum to replace the original intent of the site...that is, to archive technical info etc. When are normal banter back and forth is mixed in with the "meat" info, this will be no better than Yahoo! in six months (or less).
How about we use the forum ("a" forum maybe) to yak at each other, post our questions, etc., and general stuff that is more temporal in nature, but use the site itself to store the info that is 'timeless'.
spence 06-22-2004, 04:23 PM I think the board will be mainly for discussion, not posting articles on ACC, etc. I will take on the task of posting those permanently. This is just a discussion forum, not a article page
Red Baron 06-22-2004, 04:32 PM Post wherever you want, Forum is fine. If it is not the best place for it the moderators or administrator will find the right home for it in the future, after the thread has died down.
Message is, if you can't figure out where it goes, just put it into the forum. No harm, no foul. That simple.
The categories though will make it much easier for you to find information when you need it.

Red Baron 06-22-2004, 04:37 PM It is suppose to work that way. They have sub forums. However there is a but, that occurs when you go back up out of the forum, it shows them all.
They are nested to unclutter the main page. What's new is a sub tree forum of adminstrative announcements. Granted, it is a bit strange until you get used to it. It is just a differnt way of organizing things.

Loran in Npvl IL 06-22-2004, 11:38 PM I like the idea of one main forum for most posts (classified, non-VN750 excluded) and have the moderators move posts (or sections of posts) as needed for archiving. It is more natural for someone to post something (especially questions) on the main forum so everybody sees the post. This is what our “family” is use to because of the way Yahoo works and has served us well and is what happens on most forums anyway. With this new forum, if someone doesn’t want to read a thread, they can easily ignore it.
Unlike Yahoo, this forum is easier to search and easier for the search gurus to inform members on how to “better” ;-) use the search capabilities.
