OK, I've read all about the splines & I'm ging to go & lube them tonight. My question is... When I went to the auto parts store to buy grease. Non of the packages had a "Moly" rating. They said stuff like high synthetic moly blend and crap. It was like they didn;t want you to actually know what you where buying. So I asked one of the highly intellegent employees, "which lube has the highest Moly count?" So Lucas Red N Tacky is what I was suggested. The older guy I was talking to said he'd been riding for years and this was the best stuff I could buy for my splines?Shaft. So what do ya think? Is the stuff worth using?

I did find THIS (http://www.lucasoil.com/images/medialibrary/red_n_tacky.pdf) info on it.
Not sure how it would hold up, but if it's not too expensive, give it a try.

I saw that too. It's all greek to me. I guess I could give it a try unless you know of another I don't have to get from a dealer!

If I was you (since the link is greek to all of us) I'd go to the honda dealer and get their moly grease that's recommended here. I'm sure you have a honda dealer close right? With the expense of replacing splines I'd stay with what's known....

Hmm, what I typed up to post timed out and didn't post ??

To sum up what I had....
Yeah, get some Moly60.
I think I'm going to have to order it online. Seems as though none of the shops around here carry it

Here's what I found. The "Moly" percentage in most lubes manufactured by ALL the major oil companys is around 3%. I found this out by calling the information line to one of our money hordes... I mean oil companys. And when I said I was looking for something that was atleast 60% moly he said, and I quote "Whoa, Thats alot of Moly. Something like that would be maufactured spacifically for a company. At most Our lubes would have around 3% moly (Iknow I'm repeating my self, but it's what he said.)" So long story short. No auto store is going to have what we need! Thanks to everyone!:smiley_th

Ok, I've lubed the splines with the honda moly. Everything was going great till the very end. I broke one of the top shock posts. Theres still enough thread to put the bolt on but only if I leave 2 washers off. Does any one know how this can be fixed?

I have seen this before, those bolts are not strong and only 17lbs torque spec if I'm not mistaken.
Those are welded to the fraim, one pweson drilled the center and tapped it.
Put a bolt in to hold it in place, most of the force is up and down not side to side.
Hope this helps
