Thanks, this is good!

My favorite is: "There's no such thing as a "fender·bender" on a bike."

I saw that at the Y! group and saved it to my favorites.:smiley_th

I like this one....

23. Ride like your invisible. Assume that nobody sees you (except the highway patrol).

Thanks for adding it here, Dianna.:beerchug:

Lotta stuff there, but good to know.
I boiled it all down to 3 simple rules.

Rule #1- DO NOT HIT ANYTHING.

Bikes have no seatbelts , you are a missle waiting to be launched. I can't even begin to express how important this is..it suppercedes everything.

Rule #2 - REMEMBER THAT AT ALL TIMES, EVERY OTHER VEHICLE ON THE ROAD IS OUT THERE WITH THE EXPRESSED PURPOSE OF KILLING YOU.

This mind set will keep you on your toes...and keep you from getting "angry" or "ragey" over others doing stupid things. If their intent is to try and kill you, you can't get mad at them for trying, and only blame yourself for not anticipating the "attack"

Rule #3 - CONSTANTLY SURVEY YOUR SURROUNDINGS AND WORK OUT ESCAPE PLANS.
You know they will attack, you just do not know when, or who. So look at each vehicle and go through an escape strategy in your head..."If they do this, I can do this..."
This also covers preventative measures like changing lanes, or position, slowing down, speeding up, honking your horn, etc.

I have used these simple rules for the last 30+ years and although I have had quite a few "close calls" I never have gone down on the street or lost control of the bike when I was "attacked".

Either speed up or slow down, but don't stay in a car's blind spot.

Good read.

27. There's no such thing as a "fender·bender" on a bike.

I've had 1 exception to this rule.
my brother, being a crappy driver at the time (only 16 years old), was driving the family van directly in front on me. I was riding on my honda shadow. going into a intersection with a yellow light he stops in the middle of the intersection because the light turned red. meanwhile, i had stopped at the entrance to the intersection not wanting to chance running the light. I figured he would just go straight through. nope.... he proceeds to reverse the van right up onto my front fender. after I scream myself hoarse and possibly offend many bystanders he gets the point and moves forward enough to remove the van from my front tire.... luckily other than some scratches to the front fender there was no damage to the bike or me.

so i've had my fender bender for the riding career and I don't expect to be that lucky anytime in the future

I had a similar experience recently, as told in another thread...

How about a door bender!!!!!!!! So I was riding to work this morning, I Atlanta that can always be interesting. Traffic was moving slow and I noticed a black Honda Accord flying up in the lane beside me. "Here we go" went through my head and I started making room for the Yahoo to get in. But when he gets to me he decides he is just going to take my spot. I looked down and made eye contact, blew the horn, and still he kept coming. At this point I had three choices. Take the hit, ride into oncoming traffic or the choice I made. I took my boot off the peg and proceded to kick a two foot diameter dent in the side of his door. The cop who showed up gave him an Inattentive driving citation and let me go.....LOL

All right!! There is justice in this world. I wonder if the police officer rides too.

You know I was wondering if I tried that if I would end up falling over or if the bike would have enough stability. Glad to hear your results

Used to race desert in southern Idaho and sometimes the guys on four wheelers needed a little kick to keep them from knocking the bike out from under you....LOL.....So I do have a little experience with that particular move.

Hopefully the driver (:loser1:) learned (and will remember) a good lesson !!
I'd probably do the same thing if it seemed obvious enough that they had to have seen me and just kept on coming.
When it comes right down to it, what they did is assult with a deadly weapon and you were just protecting yourself.

Glad you got the better of his car than he got of you !!!
