:beerchug: Finally after the fire and igniter woes something good happened. I had her all apart and after reading the post about checking splines I figured what the hell and take a look. I was expecting them to be dry and gone. There was plenty of grease and the splines were awesome.

Of course, you're riding a 1986 ~ if I have my history right, the spline luber was awake on the assembly line during that period!

but to late for it and everything is already fixed anyway.
