I have noticed that are a number of pacific northwest owners on the board and none of us appear willing to make the 2000+ mile ride out to Kentucky Lake.

Is anyone in this corner of the country interested in getting together Saturday for lunch, dinner or maybe a ride? I thought we might time it so we could call in to someone's cell phone at the Kentucky Lake rally while they were enjoying Jax's ribs and live vicariously through the rallying of others.

I would love the opportunity to checkout other's rides and compare notes.

I live in Bellevue, Washington and I am willing to go and meet anyone in the Puget Sound area, go as far east as Wenatchee and Yakima or as far south as Longview, Kelso. My goal is to have us meet. I have no experience in group riding so if someone wants to work on that they are more than welcome.

My current plan is ride out to Paradise in Mount Rainier National Park so a picture of all of the bikes to show can have the nice backdrop and we can show all them east coast folks what a real mountain looks like. We would want to meet all together at about 3pm to make the phone call during the dinner time at Kentucky Lake. We would need a cell phone number for someone at KL (hint, hint).

I have started a thread at VN750.com called Pacific Northwest Sympathy Get Together. If you are interested in joining me, have suggestions for places that work better for you or you want to help by organizing a more formal group ride, post there so everyone interested can easily see the suggestions.

I plan on riding out to Paradise that day come rain or shine if anyone is interested or not, unless someone wants to meet with me elsewhere.

It was a beautiful weekend here. How'd the ride turn out?

Unfortunately, I am having problems with my battery getting drained. I had to push start it on Friday, and I am not taking it on any long trips until I figure out what the problem is. And yes I have a MF battery that is practically new, I praying it isn't the stator.

Oh man, that brings back some nasty flashbacks. Did you see my threads about the problem I had? New bike, new Sears Diehard (Yuasa) battery and it kept dieing. Stator in mine never was good apparently. Lost two weeks of precious riding time while it was in the shop. Have you done the checks with a volt/ohm meter yet? On mine (and a couple of others I've read about) the windings were shorted to ground. No resistance between any of the yellow wires and the frame. The interesting thing on mine, though, was that it didn't show as shorted until it was run and got very, very hot. I was told it didn't show up when the bike was cold. I have mixed feelings about where I got it fixed. I'll share if you're interested. Check the ground cables, there's two of them. Look for corrision on all of the connections. Good luck, we're all pulling for you.

could be very helpful. Let us know.

Thanks for link. I had forgotton about that. I took the main wire off of ground and found it was pretty rusty. When I get back from work tomorrow, I am going to dremel it clean, put on some dielectric grease and see if I can add an extra ground wire to my regulator. Here is crossing my fingers. Let everyone know after I tried it out.

Well the on going saga continues. There was a whole bunch of corrosion on the battery box and the R/R. On of the contacts on the R/R was oxidized pretty bad. I ended up stripping everything off the battery box, removing it, treating it with battery cleaner, washing it down and put a fresh coat of spray paint on it to help stem the rest that was building up. I also got and painted the parts I need to relocate my R/R. So today later today, I am going to put it all back together, cross my fingers and hope that all the cleaning, sanding, and TLC gets my electrical system back together.

Mike the stator test is quick and simple to do. Do the test and get the stator question out of the way. The electrical system all starts with the stator, and the battery. Once you verify they are good, work from there.
